how to find the seed of a minecraft world
6 Answers half dozen
In one.three and above you can blazon /seed
into the console to view it.
However, this is not as good considering usually you desire the world seed to create another earth like it, to share with a friend, and you can't copy/paste it.
For pre-1.3 versions (and for if you want easy copy/paste) go to seedscope.internet, then upload your level.dat
file, and it will evidence you your seed.

If you already have the Single Player Commands modern installed, it's extremely like shooting fish in a barrel to find the seed of your world. Typing the command /globe seed
will impress the seed of your world to the console.

Without mods or websites, you can view your level.dat file using a program like NBTedit. Your level.dat file contains your seed.

Note that this answer concerns Minecraft Beta one.8, not Minecraft official release 1.8. The seed was added in ane.8-beta, and removed in i.3-release. It was not re-added in i.eight-release.

There is modernistic available designed to help you find slime spawns. It updates the F3 display ti include the seed. If you update your local client information technology will find the seed of both your local maps, and for maps on SMP servers.

Yous can as well view the seed and edit information technology using the plan MCEdit.

Ah, where in the F3 screen is it? Is the characteristic still in version 1.3.2? I'm not seeing it, for some reason.

@Cyclops Server admins have an selection to hibernate the seed from the debug screen. (This avoids the problem of players scouting the map in single-thespian.) Are yous on a multiplayer server?

@SevenSidedDie, although I'm playing unmarried-player, equally I empathise information technology - version 1.3 switched the code to pure multi-player, and faking unmarried-role player. Does that mean the seed is hidden by default? Is there any fashion to unhide information technology? Wups - I just noticed that the answer was edited to testify shift-F3. I'll have to attempt that when I get home.

@Cyclops Ahah! As of one.3 information technology no longer displays on the debug screen. Instead, enter
/seed
into the chat console (opened with/
). This doesn't require cheats enabled to piece of work, thankfully.Aug 27, 2012 at 20:42
